Iris Boat Trophy results

The weather at the end of the Iris Boat Trophy on Sunday 29th June was a stark contrast to the beginning.
The 4 boats comprising 8 anglers set out in bright sunshine with just a light Northerly breeze but returned in grey skies, rain and much stronger winds.
Competitors tried various marks including the rand, black rock, the wool pack, the gore channel and the weir bank but the fish were simply not playing ball and the fishing was dire.
Most blanked, reporting not even having had a bite! Junior twins Bradley and Lewis Perry-French both boated a fish each but were undersize and returned.
The only fish weighed in at the end was a Smoothhound of 2.76lbs for B. Morris which landed him all 12 points and the heavy fish pool.

It also moves him to top spot in the league table.

1st- B. Morris, 1 fish, 2.76lbs

Over the low beach comp results

Hot and sunny days never seem conducive for shore fishing from Herne Bay, but fishing over low water means anglers get the chance to move away from the crowds a bit.

8 members entered the comp, fishing from bishopstone point and middle bank mainly in search of bass.

Crabs and weed were as present as always but it was current championship leader S. Stephenson who prevailed again bringing the only fish of the day to the scales.

Full Results as Follows;

1st- S. Stephenson, 1 fish, 1.60lbs

Diamond Jubilee trophy results

Twelve anglers set out from the club house on Sunday 1st June for the Herons third annual Diamond Jubilee trophy.

With any beach in Kent available, most opted for Walmer at Deal with hopes of dogfish in numbers as has been the case there lately.

The warm day was let down by the Easterly wind however and this too seemed to put off the fish with just four members weighing in a catch.

K. Wilton bagged 3 doggies for the title as well as the greatest number pool.

Full Results as follows
1st- K. Wilton, 3 fish, 3.90lbs
2nd-  M. Morris, 1 fish, 1.56lbs
3rd- P. Gower, 1 fish, 1.34lbs
4th- A. Louch, 1 fish, 1.18lbs
