Seven pairs set out, with combined weights counting toward the trophy. (although individual results are also recorded for the championship)
The fairly strong NE wind which greeted the anglers as they left the increasingly silted harbour thankfully abated after a short while and warm, calm conditions prevailed.
Most headed for the Weir bank area with skate in mind. Dogfish were ever present but there were also plenty of whiting to keep anglers busy as well as small smooth hounds and dabs.
At the end of play however, it was M. Morris who came up trumps, bagging four sizeable skate. The best of which was a modest 7lbs 15.8oz which helped toward besting second placed T. Morris by over 10lbs.
Junior member L. Perry-French narrowly missed out on the heavy fish pool with an impressive ray of his own at 7lbs 14.7oz and P. Gower weighed in another of 7lbs 4.6oz.
Coupled with G. Mummery's bag however, which included a good whiting of over 1.5lbs and a skate of his own, he and Mick took top spot for the event.
