The first round of the Jubilee Cup beach competition was fished on Sunday 31st January, with the second round penned for September.
Fifteen heron's took to Herne bay's beaches to fish the event which is notorious for poor catches due to the time of year.
This year saw surprising results however with rockling, dabs, whiting and skate caught.
6 rays were in fact landed with the heaviest fish of 9lbs 3.2oz falling for K. Morris fishing middle bank. Kevin also had another and along with 2 whiting won the comp with a total weight of 15lbs 14.4oz.
B. Morris also had 2 rays and 2 whiting from the Kings hall, his biggest being 7lbs 10.4oz, which got him into second spot.
M. Morris was third and also had a ray of 8lbs 3.6oz fishing near middle bank.
S. Stephenson had the other for 4lbs 9.2oz and came in 4th.
