Pessimism ensued that there would be anything to weigh in for the 8 anglers taking part in the Heron’s Osman Cup Beach Competition on Sunday the 22nd April as the sun was shining brightly, the water was gin-clear and the beaches were packed with people. Never good fishing conditions.
Nonetheless they all set out and persevered. I. Morris landed a thornback ray fishing near Bishopstone, his first from the shore, but unfortunately for Ian, the fish was undersize.
Meanwhile T. Morris reported dropping a fish from the West beach. Things were poor indeed.
However one member did return with a sizeable catch for the win, B. Morris landed a thornback ray of his own of 4lbs 13.4oz also fishing near Bishopstone and claimed all 12pts putting him in the current lead position for the championship.
