Watercraft membership fee’s – As you may be aware, Canterbury City Council have recently changed the annual membership fee for non-club fishing boats from £150 to £50. This was a result of receiving complaints from boat anglers that did not wish to join a club just for the discount and considered it unfair that they were being penalised for not doing so.
Both clubs support the new fee arrangement, but are of the opinion they could have been avoided if they had been part of the consultation process.
In the light of these changes both clubs have agreed that the 12 month new member waiting period to qualify for the £30 club fee is no longer applicable. So, with immediate effect, any new member can apply for watercraft membership at the club discounted price of £30. The rules of membership set out by CCC are very comprehensive and both clubs will ensure these rules are adhered too by club members.
