Council to charge for boats on beaches!

Canterbury City Council are set to charge for storage of boats on beaches/public open space.

Unless local people act now and show their objections to this new tax.

Following a recent review, Canterbury City Council is consulting on introducing a charge for various activities and services provided by Foreshore Services including in this instance, the storage of boats on beaches/public open space.

At present, these proposals remain in the consultation phase and as such, we are keen to receive any and all feedback.  The proposed fee of £100 plus  VAT per boat per year would come into effect as of April 2013.

The council would be grateful for your comments and views regarding this proposal.  Please forward all comments to businessunit@canterbury.gov.uk by 21st December 2012 or telephone 01227 862 489 to discuss the matter.

So get in touch, email them rather than phone as they will then have a record of your objection.
