Catches were slower than expected, especially the whiting numbers normally associated with the time of year. Dogfish, dabs, pouting and codling added to bags for those who persevered, infact it was only T. Morris and B. Morris who stuck it out to the end.
The pair fished the first 3 hours at the Weir bank but moved close in for the end of the competition, this paid dividends for B. Morris who landed two sizeable skate, the best of which tipped the scales at 8lbs 14.8oz and took the heavy fish pool. Unfortunately for him, this was not quite enough to overcome T. Morris's impressive tally of 53 fish and was beaten by just 4.8oz!
