With predicted F9 SW gales, it was no surprise only three anglers turned out to fish the Heron's 'last chance' boat competition on Sunday 15th November.
It was decided that provided we stayed close to shore, we should be protected enough to fish safely and therefore anchored up just 600yds off the club house.
It was fish from the off with whiting and dogfish as well as some really good sized dabs. G. Mummery took the best of these at 12.7oz while B. Morris had one of 11.2oz.
Meanwhile, T. Morris dropped a reasonable Codling of 4-5lbs on the surface.
Despite specifically targeting the rays, B. Morris was unable to find any while G. Mummery boated three on a spreader, the best at 6lbs 2.6oz.
In the end, it was these that made the difference and won him the match even though T. Morris brought 92 sizeable fish to the scales.
Full results as follows;
1st- G. Mummery, 68 fish, 49lbs 1.7oz
2nd- T. Morris, 92 fish, 40lbs 13.2oz
3rd- B. Morris, 55 fish, 27lbs 3.2oz
