Kevin spoke to the members present about what is expected of members while in the club.
The Heron Angling Society is a fun, relaxed, family friendly club that has been spoilt recently by a small number of incidents and this cannot continue. He proceeded to lay down the law and explain how things stand.
We welcome social members who support our aims. The fishing club ethos “to promote interests in fishing” with a bar and socials.
We are not and never will be a Social Club.
Our bar staff are volunteers not professionals and they give their time for free. We do not expect abuse and arguments about when the bar person is going to close the bar, especially on Sundays. If there is a time notice on the bar – Today the bar is closing 2.30pm, 3.00pm, 3.30pm etc – then that is when the bar will close.
Membership is a privilege not a right. Any form of aggressive, abusive, disruptive or anti-social behaviour is not acceptable. Persons using this type of behaviour (under Club Rule 8) will have membership withdrawn without appeal and there is a strong possibility the Sunday bar opening could go back to 12.00 – 2.00pm.
There are a lot of members both fishing and social that have spent a vast amount of time and effort and in some cases their own money to make this club what it is today and we will not have it spoilt by a handful of people who are only here because the beer is cheap!
This statement was met with wholehearted support from all members present and will be vigorously implemented.
