As it transpired, the storm was not nearly as bad as forecast and with the wind coming from the SW on Saturday it was deemed safe enough to fish within a limit marked out between Hampton pier, the pier head and the main pier.
4 boats head out and the results were very underwhelming to say the least, after 5 hrs of fishing, D. Neiles led the way with a single dogfish and a whiting whilst only 3 other anglers managed a catch at all.
By Sunday, the wind had swung round to the West, threatening North West and safety dictated the day be called off.
Monday came and it had dropped off dramatically, going back to a comfortable South West which meant 5 boats comprising 11 anglers set out to try and make amends for the disappointing start to the event.
Huge catches of whiting were the result with a few dogfish and pouting also showing along with a dab, an eel and a 5lbs 5oz ray also falling to D. Neiles.
The best of the catches came from the shallow end of the copperas though, with T. Morris landing a very impressive haul of 144 fish for the win.
