The first beach competition of the year took place on Sunday 21st January for the Heron, the 1st of 2 rounds for the Jubilee Cup. Unusually, only 8 anglers took to the shores as this event is normally well attended.
Catch rates were fairly slow with pin whiting proving a pest but 5 managed to weigh in bags consisting of whiting, dabs and flounders. The best of the latter falling for T. Morris with a 1lbs 3.4oz specimen fish. Along with that, Tony takes the lead in the event with 9 fish in total from a Studd Hill mark.
Full results as follows;
1st- T. Morris, 9 fish, 4lbs 6.4oz
2nd- D. Smith, 5 fish, 1lbs 14.4oz
3rd- K. Morris, 3 fish, 14.8oz
4th- B. Morris, 2 fish, 10.8oz
5th- D. Neiles, 1 fish, 5oz
