Despite the recent influx of rays being caught from Herne Bay’s shores, just 8 Heron’s took to the beach for this years Tamkin Cup Competition on Sunday 17th March.
All returned with reasonable catches and a total of 16 rays were brought to the scales. The better fish came from reculver with Simon Stephenson and David Morris both bagging 4 a piece whilst Kevin Morris had 3. David also landed the heaviest fish of 9lbs 4.8oz but it wasn’t quite enough to overhaul Simon’s total weight.
Catches were also made up of dogfish and whiting with smaller rays coming in from Beltinge and the Kings Hall areas.
